The bamboo is eco-friendly and compostable. The bristles are not, they are made from nylon (synthetic material made from fossil fuels). If you want to compost after use, you can break off the entire brush head or pull the bristles out with a pliers and recycle or discard. If recycling, put in another recyclable container to keep bristles together.
